Here is the latest kit that I have worked with by Kim Cameron. It's called Winter Romance. I really liked this kit when I first saw it, but really didn't have any need for the snowy elements. Then, we had a snow storm in Austin and I saw my chance to use this kit. You can find the kit at Groovy Scraps. It's on sale for 40% off right now. I'm not sure when the sale ends though.
Here is Jeremy trying to make a snow ball. His gloves are way too big. I'm the only one who could find my gloves, so he is wearing mine. He and Andrew had a little snow ball fight.

Country Roads

The latest kit I have been working with for Kim Cameron is called Country Roads. This kit is available at Groovy Scraps. It's on sale now for 40% off.

The first layout I did was about our vacation last spring break. This shows you how far behind I am in my scrapbooking. This vacation was 11 months ago and I am just not scrapping it. I didn't really have any scrapping mojo for a couple of months. The new calling as ward historian and also doing the ADSR are really helping my mojo to come back.
This second layout is for my mother-in-laws memorial book that should have been done before Christmas. Again, I will blame my lack of scrapping mojo for this one. It's getting closer to being done though. I have about 10 pages done, so half way. These are photos of Beth with some of her closest friends.

It's that time of year again. It's time for the Amazing Digiscrapping Race. This is the 3rd year I have done the race. It's a lot of fun and I learn a lot by doing the race. Here are my first 3 layouts for the race. The bottom one is first. I had to scraplift a layout from my partner, Rose. The layout had to be about her. Rose and I have been partners ever since we started doing the race 3 years ago. We have also been designers in the same stores through the years. I've retired from designing, but I think she still designs some. She and I are both into photography as well as scrapbooking.

The middle layout is the 2nd challenge. This challenge had to have 5 photos, one of them had to include the number 5, I had to use 5 different fonts or alphas and journal about 5 things I love. I chose to do my family. My 5th photo is the number 5 itself. The last part of the challenge is to use 5 of the same element types. I used 5 different flowers. I love flowers on my pages. It's probably my most frequently used element type. When I was designing, my kits always had lots of flowers in them.

The top challenge is the one I just finished today. The challenge was to use selective coloring on the photo. I turned the photo black and white, then made Jeremy back into color. The lightning bolt on his shirt really pops with the background being black and white. In addition to the selective coloring, there had to be at least 20 words of journaling and a date element. You can't just put the date on the layout with an alpha or font. It had to be a specific element to state the date. This date element was created by me last year for a collaborative kit I contributed too. I think it's rather unique. I don't know that I have ever seen it in another kit. It's not in anything I own.

Morning Meadow

Here is my next 2 layouts for Kim's creative team. The one with all of my kids also happens to be my second layout for the Amazing Digiscrapping Race. This is the 3rd year I have done this race with Rose, my partner. It is a great way to get out of my comfort zone with scrapbooking. This kit is called Morning Meadow. It is beautiful. Here is my second layout with Tracy's kit. This is a photo of my family taken the day Jeremy got baptized, January 16, 2010. We didn't do a good job of positioning because there is a shadow across Rachael's face. This shadow has shown up in most of my pics from that day. I can't believe I didn't notice this when I was taking the pictures. I should know better.

Lovely Day

Here is my latest CT Layout. This one is for a kit called Lovely Day by Tracy Drane. She and Kim share their CT, so I get the benefit of being able to work with both of their products. The kit can be found at Groovy Scraps. This is a picture of Jeremy taken on the bus tour at Hershey PA when we went there for vacation last March. He was enjoying a yummy pastry on the bus ride, then got a bunch of chocolate at the end of the bus ride. Hershey was a really fun place to visit. Next time we go, we want to go during the summer so we can go to the amusement park.

I am on Kim Cameron's CT. I've been on there for a long time, but haven't really been active since I started designing. Now that my designing career is over, I decided I needed to get some scrapping done and get active in the CT again. Here is the first layout I have done for Kim in a long time. This layout is for our church scrapbook. I am going to be called as our ward historian soon. I'm taking over from a sister who is 96 years old. I've done several layouts in the past year for her and she always teases me that I am going to end up taking over for her when she gets released. I'm excited and nervous about this new calling, but I really think it will be fun. It will also get me back into scrapping. I haven't scrapped much in the last 4 months. Scorching hot sale

Groovy scraps is having a scorching hot sale July 8th-15th. It is such a fitting name for this sale since the Austin Texas area has been experiencing record breaking heat for the past 3 weeks. It wasn't as bad yesterday and today due to the "cold front" that came through. Unfortunately, the rain missed us this time. This past weekend, we had an Austin Oakhills Stake fast in hopes to bring rain to this area. We even had Jeremy fast. He did really well considering he is only 7. I won't force him to fast every month, but I think this was very important. I am very proud of him and how well he did.

I have been sadly neglecting my designing and my store, but I am vowing to do better. I need to design more and advertise more. I think I have probably lost all of my viewers for my blog as I have only done 2 posts the entire year. You can tell by my sell figures too. I really do enjoy designing and I really want to design more.

Crew's Journey

I stumbled across a blog that has really touched my heart. This is a blog about a tiny little baby named Crew. He was a twin born at 28 weeks. His twin brother passed away prior to birth due to twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Crew is fighting for his life now. He is progressing and doing really well for such a tiny little guy. I read this blog every day and I have added Crew to my prayers each day. You can read about him here. His mom is a digital scrapbooking designer also. The designers she sells with have created a kit to help the family pay for Crew's NICU cost, which will be huge, even with insurance. I didn't hesitate to purchase it. It is on sale at Plain Digital Wrapper. I don't usually advertise for kits that are not my own, for my CT designers or from one of my stores, but this is an exception.

I'm posting about this on both blogs. This is a very worthwhile kit. It is huge and adorable.

Old Fashion Christmas Add-on

I added a little bit onto my kit "Old Fashion Christmas" and redid the preview. I have learned so much about previews in the 14 months I have been designing. I used to think I needed to make the nice and neat so you could see everything that was in them. I have found people seem to like them better when they are a little messy. Go figure.

I know there are a few isolated people who purchased my Old Fashion Christmas kit last year, so I am making the add-on available as a freebie on my blog. For those of you who may not have purchase it, right now is the perfect time to do so. It is on sale for 50% off. That makes this kit only $1.88. Some of the pictures I used in this kit remind me of Norman Rockwell photos of long ago. The Dover book I used was the best. I hope you enjoy this kit. My sister-in-law just emailed me some sad news. For those LDS members, Elder Wirthlin died last night. He was 91. He died in his sleep of old age. The little blurb she sent said he worked in his office all the way up to Thanksgiving. He served the Lord all the way to the end. He will be missed, but I am sure he is enjoying a happy reunion with his wife.

Semi-retiring

It has been a busy month and I meant to post this a long time ago. The end of the month snuck up on me though. I am going to be retiring, sort of. Life has just gotten so busy that I can't keep up with everything. I can't find time to design much and the stress of having to get a certain number of products in the stores each month, plus collaborative kits for each site was too much for me. I didn't have any time with my family and I didn't like that. I am having a huge sale at each of my stores. Everything is 50% off at Scraphead, Scrapper's Zone and Studio Style Designs. I will be staying on at Groovy Scraps to do some charity kits and their monthly collaborative kits. I doubt I will put anything in the store. If I decide to design anything, I will give it away for free on my blog.

Thanks to all of you who have bought my products and downloaded my freebies. My family is the most important thing to me and it is very important that I have time with them. I made a go at digital designing when I couldn't work and my family really needed the money. I was blessed to get on in several stores very quickly. I did not make the kind of money I had hoped to, but I really enjoyed the process. It gave me something even more important. I needed some sort of distraction during a very difficult time in my life and designing provided that for me. As I was typing, that came to me-an epiphany as to why I was getting accepted to all of these stores. I think that distraction was the most important thing for me during that time. Things are much better now. I feel better, I have an answer as to what is wrong with me and I have a treatment plan to help some. Having MS has brought many blessing to me. I never thought such a horrible disease could bring so many blessings.

Speaking of MS, I will have a charity kit for the National MS Society in stores soon. It is a collaborative kit by some of the designers at Groovy Scraps. As soon as it is in the store, I will post about it.

Birthday Celebration

My family has so many birthdays in September. My BIL had a birthday on
the 6th, my daughter's best friend (she is like my adopted daughter)
had a birthday on the 5th. My niece had a birthday on the 15th. My
birthday is coming up on the 23rd. Lastly, my son Andrew, has a
birthday on the 29th. With all of those birthdays, I decided I would
have a birthday sale. This sale is going on in all of my stores.
Everything will be 50% off starting the 15th and ending the 30th of
September.

One of my fellow designers at Scraphead, Cassel, has a bunch of new PSP scripts in her store. She even has a free one available for you to try out. I don't use PSP, so I can't say anything about them personally, but they look great.

Last, but not least, I have a gift for you. It has been quite a while since I have had a freebie. I'm sorry. Truth is, I haven't been able to get much designing done at all the past few months. I have been focusing on my family and my health. I did start this kit during the Olympics. I got a few papers done and some flowers and ribbons. I also made gold, silver and bronze metals, but then I got busy and didn't finish it. I feel a little silly putting an Olympic kit in the store when the Olympics have been over for almost a month. So, I am going to give away the papers I made for this kit. I hope you enjoy them. Maybe I'll give away the elements I have made at a later date.

Patriot Day chat and sale

I know it has been a while since I have blogged. Things have been busy in my real life. I haven't had much time to do anything with designing lately. I have been trying to get school work going consistently with the kids lately. My teenage daughter got her learners permit yesterday, so we will start the driving part of driver's ed soon. It is a scary thought, but I am excited for her. She is pretty responsible, but she can be a little scatter brained at times. I have told her she is forbidden to talk on the phone while she is driving until she is at least 18. The State of Texas backed me up. We learned last week that it is illegal for teenagers to drive and talk on the phone.

Now for a little bit of designing news. At Groovy Scraps, we are having a sale. We are calling it Patriot day. This sale is on anything patriotic. The sales is for today and tomorrow. A Boring post

Sorry, not much going on to post about. I have had to take a little break from designing for a while. I have a pretty busy schedule the next few weeks and I just don't have time to get a lot of designing done. I will only be doing the collabs for a few sites. I am working on an olympic kit that I hope to have finished soon. It is going to be a fairly small kit, which means it will be very inexpensive. Check back sometime next week and I hope it will be done by then.
Rachael starts dance today. She is so happy to be back to dancing. She is going to have a busy dance schedule again. She will have tap on Monday. On Tuesday, she is going to be a teacher assistant for a basic combo class for ages 5 and 6. She is super excited about that. After the combo class, then she takes her modern class. Once VIR (Visions in Rhythm) starts, then she will have VIR after modern. On Wednesday, she has ballet/pointe. They moved that class back 30 minutes, so she will be able to get to church on time on Wednesday night. On Thursday, she has Jazz and then will have VIR again once that starts.

Andrew and Jeremy start cub scouts the first week of September. We have been doing popcorn sales the past week. Jeremy was so excited about selling popcorn because he got to wear his uniform. He said he is a real scout now. He is super cute in his uniform. Jeremy is the one with the silly grin and no hat. He can never make a serious face when he gets his picture taken.
Andrew and Stan have been riding bikes every morning. They are training to do the MS bike ride in October. The ride is from San Antonio to Corpus Christie. They won't ride that far this year, but they are planning to do the whole ride next year. At Groovy Scraps, we are going to be working on a collab kit for the MS ride. All proceeds from the kit will be donated to the NMSS. We are still in the planning phase of this collab kit, so watch for details coming soon.

This is a layout I did for a challenge at Groovy Scraps. It actually served double duty. I used it for the scraplift challenge at Groovy Scraps and the word challenge at Scraphead. The word challenge was to use the word "Love" on a LO. You can find the credits for this LO here.

I finally have a new kit in the stores. This is my kit, Robbie the Robot and Friends. Robbie is the chrome robot down by the title. I think this turned out really cute. I'll be making a mini kit this weekend to give away next week on my blog. I was going to wait to release it until I had the freebie done, but I wanted to release it for the sale mentioned above.

The youth at church are doing a play about the birth and resurrection of Christ called Savior of the World and this week has been tech week. I have spent 4-6 hours a day at rehearsals. It could be worse though-my daughter has been there 8+ hours each day. They had their first performance today and they did a fabulous job. I get to actually be a part of the audience tomorrow and see it from the front rather than the back tomorrow. Happy Tuesday

I don't have much to post, but it has been almost 2 weeks since I posted and I wanted to post at least once a week, so I guess I am behind as usual. I have been super busy the past 2 weeks. My health is still giving me problems. My MS flare has subsided for the most part except the fatigue and heat intolerance has been worse. However, the steroid treatment I did for the flare has left me diabetic. Most of the time, steroid induced diabetes only lasts the duration of the steroids, but I have been off of them over 3 weeks and I am still having elevated blood sugars. I am on insulin now. I am trying to be very careful about my diet. I have gone back to weight watchers and I am working on my weight. It is so hard for me to stay away from carbs. I love carbs. I don't know how people eat on the Atkins diet. I can eat vegetarian if I had to, but carb free is so hard for me. I am trying to eat only complex carbs. Last night, I splurged and had some ice cream with my son. I took him to see Space Chimps and we went to Amy's ice cream after the show. I was shocked that my blood sugar was normal after that. Sometimes, it makes no sense.

I am working on a new kit. It is called Robbie the Robot and Friends. I made some cute robots for this kit along with some of the regular LO elements, like bows, ribbon, flowers, clips, buttons, etc. I tried to post one of the robots so you could see it, but blogger is having problems and I get an error every time I try to post a photo. I'll try again later if I have a chance. This is the last week for Savior of the World practice and the show is on Friday and Saturday. I doubt I will be home much this week.

I just got my first blog award. I was so excited. This was given to me by Snowraven. Snowraven designs with me at Scraphead. I have really enjoyed getting to know her in the few short months I have been designing at Scraphead. Snowraven's kits are so unique. They have a sort of midieval look to them. I'm not sure that is the right word, but I can't think of how else to describe them. I would also use antique as a good word to describe her designs. They are really pretty.

This award is to be given to 7 bloggers. I was one of her 7 and this is what she wrote:

I mentioned to her once that I had to use a color palate when I designed. I have had optic neuritis 3 times. Optic neuritis is very common among MS patients. It can cause colors to become muted. My color vision is really bad when I am in the middle of a bout of optic neuritis, but in between, it gets better. However, I cannot easily use the hue/saturation slider in Photoshop and match the color without using the number of that color. I can't trust my eyes to match the colors properly. Even when I use Artrage to design something, I use the RBG color numbers to get the exact color. I wouldn't want any of you to unzip one of my kits and the colors don't match. That would not be good.

Now the hard part. I have to nominate 7 people for this award. It actually won't be that hard. These are in no particular order except the order in which they come to my brain.

First- Amy: Still a Mom. Amy is a member of a forum with me. This forum is called January 2002 Mommies. I joined this group when I was pregnant with Jeremy. I have been chatting with these women since then. We all have children born in January of 2002. Amy joined the group after Cal was born. She has 2 beautiful boys. Both of her boys have autism. She blogs about her family. Her boys keep her running. She is such an inspiration to me. Her boys keep her running and her little Charlie is going to give her gray hair.

Second- Corrine: 4kids no dog. Corine is a friend of mine from church. She and her family just moved to Hawaii. I miss her. I love reading her blog. She is an excellent writer. She can make the simplest story so interesting. She comes up with the funniest things. She recently figured out where the wicked witches of the east went to retire. I never would have guessed they were in Hawaii, but apparently they are. She recently tagged me and I have still yet to answer that tag. I haven't forgotten Corrine. I'll get to it.

Third- Robin's World of Scrap or Crap. Robin is one of my CT members. She has a great blog. I don't get to read it as much as I should. I get busy and check it out every 2 weeks or so. She makes some great layouts for me and her blog is really interesting.

Fourth- Kim Cameron: Our Journey. I am on Kim's CT. I also "work" for Kim. She and Tracy own the soon to be opened Groovy Scraps. I am one of the designers there. They use to be part owners of Make it Scrappy before it closed down. She is one of the sweetest people I know. When I first started designing, she was the only person that gave me constructive criticism about my designs. She taught me so much about how to be a better designer. She has also been a great friend. I noticed that Kim was nominated by Tracy Drane for this award. This just goes to show you what a wonderful person she is.

Fifth-Confessions of an overwhelmed and immeasurably blessed mom. This blog belongs to a woman I do not know. It is one of those blogs that I found by following the links on other people's blogs. I almost never keep reading blogs this way, but this blog really touched me. When I first found the link, I read everything she wrote about her wonderful son Jack. Her son was not suppose to live. However, he is 2 years old now. He has a lot of medical problems that will plague him the rest of his life, but he seems like a normal 2 year old in many ways. You can tell through his mom's writing how blessed they are to have him in their life.

Sixth-Bridget: Digiscrapper4life. Bridget is a designer with me at Scraphead. She and I have been helping each other out by critiquing each others designs. She has given me some very good feedback on my designs. I have really enjoyed getting to know Bridget and I look forward to seeing our friendship grow.

Seventh-Suzanne: Here is another of my January 2002 mommies. She runs a blog about decluttering your house. I pop in there and read it occasionally, but I talk with Suzanne a lot more in our forum. She has been a huge support to me as I learn to deal with having MS.

I have been playing around on one of those "you look like this celebrity" type sites. These are so funny. It is amazing how you can get different results depending up the picture you use. I am not surprised that this says I look like Rickie Lake. I have actually been told that quite a bit. I have a new haircut now that frames my face even more and I think it make me look even more like Ricki Lake.

I did my daughter, Rachael and it says she looks like Rachel Stevens by 78%. I didn't know who Rachel Stevens was, so I looked her up. She is a British pop star. Next, she looked like Ashley Simpson, then Lacey Chabert (I don't know her either), then Brook Burns, then Shirley Temple, then Jennifer Love Hewitt, the Cynthia Nixon, then Zoe Lucker and lastly JK Rowling. I think some of these are so funny. If my daughter looks like all of these people, then do all of these people look alike? I don't think Shirley Temple looks anything like Jennifer Love Hewitt or JK Rowling. I also did my husband. It didn't quite know what to do with him. The first match was Minnie Driver. WHAT??? It also said Buddy Holly and Hugh Heffner. He is my stud, but I don't think he looks anything like Hugh Heffner. That is fine too. Hugh is ancient.

The other thing that is a lot of fun on this site is the Look-alike meter. It will tell you whether your kids look like mom or dad. Everyone always tells me that Rachael looks exactly like me, however, this site says she is an even blend of Stan and I. Jeremy looks more like me by 13%. Andrew looks more like me by 21%. These results are completely opposite of what I would have expected. Andrew is always getting told he looks like his dad.

I think this would make a fun scrapbooking challenge. What do you think? If this was a challenge on your favorite forum, would you do it? The challenges I run are a mix of many different things. I don't have a common theme to my challenges. I am always looking for new challenge ideas, so if you have something you would like to see done in a challenge, feel free to leave suggestions. I want my challenges to be something people really want to do and I don't want them to be boring.

Lastly, here are some layouts I have been working on. Some of them are for challenges at Scraphead and Scrapper's Zone.

There is a lot more, but I should have put the LO on here first. I wish blogger would allow you to post a photo below the text instead of only giving you a choice of above and to the side. Lots of new things

I have been meaning to post for a while now. I have just been behind this past week. I am recovering from a flare of my multiple sclerosis. I just finished my IV steroids yesterday and started the oral part today. They make me feel like crap, but they do the trick in shortening the flare and making it more manageable. I have a lot of new things done now. At the time of my last post, I told you about my faerie kit. I have since finished it and have it in the stores. I took suggestions on how to name this. I got one very good idea on a name. Candleworks, who happens to be a forum member at both Scrapper's Zone and Scraphead, gave me a suggestion of using my name on one of those "this is your faerie name" sites to name the kit. I decided to use Digiheaven Designs rather than my own name. That is how I came up with the name Oak Iceshimmer for the name of this kit. Candleworks won a free copy of this kit for her idea. Here is what the final product looks like. You can get this kit for the low price of $2.99.

At Scraphead, I am running a challenge to make a bookmark. As a part of that challenge, you can find this free bookmark template in my store. I have put it in all of my stores so there are plenty of places for you to get these templates. They are mix and match, so have fun with them. I'd love to see what everyone comes up with. You can click on the links to my stores in my side bar to find these templates and also to find the kit above.
Along with the bookmark templates, I have this freebie in my stores also. Some of you may recognize the papers. I gave them away as a freebie a few months ago. Since then, I have added some flowers, some photocorners and an alpha. Most of the parts have been given away as challenge gifts at some point. You can get the entire thing in my stores.
I finally got this kit put together and into the stores too. Again, some of you may recognize this and probably already have it. I gave it away for National Scrapbooking Day in May. I have it all packaged together and for sale at my store for the low cost of $3.99. That isn't as good as when it was free on my blog, but I think it is still a pretty good price for a cute kit like this.

In the works

I have a new kit in the works. It is all about faeries. I'm trying to come up with a good name for it now. Sometimes the hardest part of doing a kit is naming it. You want it to be original, but not corny. The originality is the hard part. I think that is the hard part of designing new kits is being original. What can I put in my kits that is different from everyone else? That is always the question.

Here is a little preview of what is going in this faerie kit. This is only a fraction of what I have done. I am hoping to have this finished by the end of the week so I can get it in the stores soon. I can't promise anything though because my MS is flaring up right now so the rest of my week is going to be unpredictable. We'll see what happens. I should have a freebie to go with this also, so be sure to check back. If you think of any great names, I am open to suggestions. If I use your name, you get the kit. This isn't a contest or anything, but I couldn't use someones name without giving them a thank-you for the idea.

Even though Scraphead has been operating for about 6 weeks under the new management of Michelle Powell, we are officially having our grand opening. Everything is going to be 40% off for the weekend. I didn't think I would ever make a grab bag. I don't buy them so I wasn't going to make one. We'll see how it sells and then I will decide if I will ever make another one. I have been tagged so many times over the past month or more and I have not had time to do anything with them. Most recently, ScrapShana tagged me. I think I have done this one before, but it has been a while. I hope I can find 7 facts about me that are weird or random. Actually, the harder part is figuring out who to tag after this. 1. My teenage daughter gives me fashion advise. She keeps me from looking like an old lady.

2. I lived in the Philippines for 3 years.

3. The house I lived in while in the Philippines has since been buried by a volcano.

4. I grew up in Utah but I have never been skiing.

5. I have always wanted 6 kids, but after being on bedrest for all 3 pregnancies, I stopped at 3 kids.

6. I was the youngest person to ever graduate from nursing school in the RN program at Austin Community College (I don't know if this is still the case though).

7. I had to get special permission to take my state boards after nursing school because I was not yet 21. The rule has since changed so people can take the boards before they are 21 now.

I have been tagged twice in the past 2 weeks. However, I haven't had a chance to do anything about those tags. I wanted to let Scrappy Cats and Snowraven know that I am not ignoring their tags. I just haven't had a chance to do anything with them yet. Scrappy Cats tag sounds like a lot of fun. It is a quickpage tag. I just have to find time to make a quickpage now. Snowraven's tag was one of those "tell 7 random things" type tags. I did one of those a few months ago, maybe less, so now I have to think of 7 more random things. I will get to these ladies. I just can't promise when. They may wait until I get back from camp in a few weeks. May is such a busy month.

I did finally get my graduation kit into the stores. It is at Scraphead and Studio Style Designs. It isn't in Scrapper's Zone yet as we are having a server change, but it will be there as soon as I get the green light to put it in the store. I will have a football mini kit in the store soon. I have a busy day today. I have to drive a bunch of girls to San Antonio today for a dance show. I just wanted to post really fast to let everyone know about the sale going on at Scraphead. The alpha

I have a great alpha for you today. It is a multicolored, plastic alpha. Each letter has a cream border and it a messy doodled alpha. The inside is colored in with the rest of the colors used for this kit. I have a few word arts not shown also. This preview only shows the upper case, but it also includes a lower case, numbers, and limited symbols. Check back tomorrow for the last part.

Late today

Sorry things are late today. We were up late last night with my daughters dance show. I slept in this morning, then got everyone ready for church and headed out the door. After church, we had a big family dinner with my SIL, her kids and my dad. We just got finished up with dinner.

Today, I have some cream based papers for you. There are 4 of them. One is solidish, one striped, on plaid and one with stars. I guess you didn't need me to tell you that since you can see if from the preview. I promise I will post earlier tomorrow. Enjoy.

I have to tell you about this fabulous new site. It is called MyPicTales. I love this site. They make hardbound books out of your scrapbooks. You can either use their software to make the pages, or you can make your own and upload them as a jpeg, TIFF, PSD, and a few others I am not remembering. I tried them out because they were cheaper than the company I usually use. Money is tight right now.

I admit I was a little nervous about trying out a new company, especially with an important gift like this. I uploaded the book to their site late Monday morning. I got an email from them about an hour later saying that they were going to give me a free custom cover because of the feedback I had given them in the DRC about the site. I made this quickly and uploaded it. I had put in the comments when I ordered that I needed it by May 3rd. I got an email around 6pm on Monday that they book had been shipped. I got it in the mail yesterday. It is STUNNING!!!. The paper they used is so beautiful. The colors are bright and vibrant. I could not believe how wonderful it looked, how inexpensive it was for this type of book and how fast they were. I got a 10x10 book, with 26 pages and it cost $39.98. I am sold on this company. I will never order from my previous company again (Sorry Corrine).

I have never ordered a Shutterfly book, but I was thinking about it. I think I am going to skip right over Shutterfly.

Something to look forward to

After I posted that I was going to try to make a freebie in celebration of 10,000 visitors, I found out that Scrapper's Zone is going to do a blog party and big sale for National Scrapbooking day. For the blog party, I am working on a circus kit. It will be given away in 7 parts May 1st through the 7th. I guess that would actually be 8 parts. These downloads will only be available for that week. I'll keep the last one on there for a few days. After May 10th, all links will be removed. Be sure to come back and check out the freebies. There will be freebies on all of the designer blogs for Scrapper's Zone.

There will also be scavenger hunts in the Scrapper's Zone forum. I have made some brag book pages that will be part of the scavenger hunt. They were made from my soon to be released kit, Butterfly Paradise. There will also be a brag book template with each brag book page. These are my first attempts at templates.

We will have some special layout challenges on the forum also. For participating in each challenge, you will get a $2.00 gift certificate to the store. 10,000

I have had 10,000 unique visitors to my blog. I am so excited. I wish I would have been paying attention to that this week. I would have made a celebration freebie. I'll work on it over the next week or so.

Things have been really busy for me this week. I have been making layouts like crazy. My daughter is in a pre-professional dance troupe. They are getting ready to have their end of year show. I am in charge of making the bio board for the show. The bio board has a picture of each of the dancers, this a short bio next to it. Being that I am a digital scrapbooker, I decided that I would make layouts for each dancer, plus the band that will be playing at the show and a few from photos that were taken during dance practice.

On Thursday, I decided that I would make a book from the layout and present it to their director at the end of the show when we give her flowers. I have all of the layouts done, but I don't have all of the bios. I am still missing 5 out of 14. By my calculation, I need to have the book submitted to the company by tomorrow in order to get the book by the show time. They are having a dance practice today so my best friend is going to try to get the missing bios for me. The practice is during church time, so I can't be there and Rachael was excused because of that reason.

Scrapper's Zone news

I should have posted this a week ago, but I seem to be eternally behind. I never used to be this way when I had a busier schedule. Isn't that ironic.

Scrapper's Zone has a great mega kit that is all about music. It is that time of the year where everyone has band concerts, orchestra concerts, choir concerts and any other concert before the end of the school year. This kit is perfect for scrapping all of those things. This kit has over 50 papers and over 100 music related elements. My portion includes musical notes, drums, keyboards, a grand piano, a record (I hope people still remember what those are), a jukebox frame, a music frame plus patterned and solid textured papers. I have been tagged once again. This time, I was tagged by my CT member Robin. Robin has a great blog. She is a good blogger and blogs more regularly than I do. Of coarse, she blogs about everything. I decided this blog would just be about digiscrapping. I think my family had trouble reading through the digiscrapping things to find things about my family and pictures of the kids. I though they might enjoy a personal blog. I really like the seperation. I'm sure you digiscrappers don't really want to hear all of the boring details of my life or my posts complaining about MS (there have been only a few of those and they were always during flares)

This site is one that I visit every Sunday. People mail in their secrets on a post card and then they post selected ones on their blog. There is a huge forum associated with it also. I've never read through the forum but I read the blog every Sunday. Some of the post cards can be adult. These are people's secrets. Don't let you kids go here. My daughter has read some with me and I have had to explain things to her and she is 15.
Scrapper's Zone forum
I love that the site is recovering from our break up earlier this year. It isn't DST busy, which is fine with me (DST is a little too busy for me). It is fun meeting new people there. I wish the store was as busy as the forum.
January 2002 Mommies
If you follow this link, you may not find much as it is a private forum. This is a forum for mommies that had children born in January of 2002. My son was born January 7, 2002. I started visiting this forum when it was a due date forum and I was 7 weeks pregnant. Many of us have been here since we were pregnant and some came right after their babies were born. We are not as big as when we were all pregnant, but those of us that have stayed have become very close friends. I love these women.
Bootcamp Buddies
This is a site of people who are on weight watchers. I like their forum better than the WW official site. I use the official site for my information about the plan but visit here for support. I mostly visit the Core section as I am trying to follow the Core plan right now.
Weight Watchers
I am trying so hard to stay on program. I even made WW my home page. I check here a lot to see what is a Core food, check my recipes, check points, etc. I kept the Weight Watchers on the Go program on my palm for a while but it was very glitchy.

It's been a while

It has been a while since I have blogged. It has been a busy week. I have had family in from out of town and my MIL has been in the s hospital and was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. I have also been busy with this kit. One of my CT members asked me to do a girl camo kit. I was having trouble with my creative juices so it took me a while to get it done. I think they are flowing again. I have this in my stores right now for 40% off until April 9th. I am still working on a freebie from this kit. I'll try to have that soon.

I am a pretty boring person, so I have no idea what I am going to put down. Let's just see what random things I can come up with.

I am Mormon.
I am allergic to onions. They give me a really bad stomach ache.
My mom was a professional seamstress, but I hate to sew. My mom tried and tried to teach me and I just never liked it. I own a sewing machine but I still ask my MIL to sew things for me.
I LOVE American Idol. I won't miss it. We have the DVR set up to record each and every episode.
I have always wanted 6 children. We stopped at 3 because all 3 of my pregnancies required strict bedrest. I had to be on bedrest for 14 weeks with my 3rd pregnancy.
I lived in the Philippines for 3 years when I was in middle school. My favorite place there was Bagio City. It was weird being able to go swimming for Christmas parties. I learned to love it though.
When I was in elementary school, I struggled with reading. I just didn't get it. I started excelling in middle school and was in honors classes by the time I was in high school.

Happy Easter

I hope everyone has had a good Easter. We have had a pretty good Easter. Stan got sick last night. He has been battling allergies all week and started running fever last night. My allergies have also been bad and that resulted in a migraine today.

Yesterday, we had a great day. Stan's sister, Emily came over with Jacob and Grace. My brother came with his wife and 5 kids. They were late, but they always are. It was such a beautiful day yesterday. We did an Easter Egg hunt in our back yard. Here are a few layouts I did with the pictures from yesterday and today. I used the kit, Easter, by Aimee Suarez. This is such a cute kit. I have lots more pictures to scrap, so I'll have more later.

I also stopped in at The Digichick yesterday and picked up a few of Darcy's fonts. I used her font Tabitha Script for these layouts. I love using handwritting fonts. I loved so many of her fonts. I had a hard time deciding on which font to get.

A new store

I have been asked to sell in a new store. I know I said it was the last one when I signed up at Make it Scrappy. SummerStorm sent me an email recently and asked me to be a part of their site. I was really concerned that another store would be too much for me. I explained to them about my MS and that sometimes it causes me to be MIA so I can take care of myself. They were ok with allowing me to do what I could and understood that there may be times I am out of commission. So, having said that, I am the newest designer at Kristen's Scrap Trunk. I will be running the "This and That" challenge at KST, just like at SZ and MIS. I hope some of you will join in the challenge. In celebration of this new store, everything in my store at KST is 30% off for 1 week. I hope to see you there. I look forward to getting to know everyone on the forums there.

Yesterday, I checked my 4shared account. I am not a well known designer by any stretch of the imagination. I was shocked to see that my paper freebie had been downloaded over 400 times. I was shocked. I usually only get between 100 and 200 downloads. I posted my notices in all of the same places. Today, I was doing some surfing and discovered why my freebie had been downloaded so many times. My freebie was on Ikea goddesses blog. I have been so busy this week that I barely had time to give my blog any attention. Thank you so much Ikea Goddess for putting my freebie on your blog. I don't know if you realize this or not, but you make a huge difference for us designers, especially newbies. The other thing I have always appreciated was the service you do for all of us scrappers. There was a time when I had NO money to spend on digital supplies and I didn't know how to make my own. I visited your blog daily and downloaded designers freebies. Downloading all of those freebies allowed me to pursue a hobby that would have otherwise been out of reach for me. So, I have an award for Ikea Goddess. YOU ROCK!!!!

Matching flower pack

I have made a flower pack that matches the paper pack below. You are going to have to work a little for this one though. This flower pack is the challenge prize for my This and That challenge at Make it Scrappy and Scrapper's Zone.

Here is the challenge: Before digital cameras, most people took 1 photo, maybe 2 and just hoped and prayed it turned out good. I remember getting my photos back from the developer and thinking "Dang, it didn't turn out like I wanted". That just doesn't happen as much any more. How many times have you taken pictures over and over trying to get it perfect? I do it all the time. My boys insure that. They love to make funny faces while I try to take their pictures. So, this challenge is not about scrapping those perfect pictures. We all do that anyway. This challenge is to scrap all of those not so perfect photos that you got in an attempt to get the perfect photo.

Here is my LO for the challenge. My boys have given me lots of not so perfect pictures to scrap. They love to watch my finger carefully as I take pictures. When they see me depress the button, they make faces. In this LO below, Jeremy was smiling so nicely when I started to take the picture. As you can see, that changed really fast.

Happy Valentines day

I hope everyone is having a happy Valentines day. DH and I celebrated on Saturday. Rachael has dance tonight, plus we both hate going out in the crowds. We never go out to eat on Valentines day. We usually celebrate the weekend before or the weekend after. He and the boys are going on a Cub Scout camp out, so we celebrated last weekend.

How is life treating everyone? I'm a bit concerned that this year is not starting off so well. Jeremy started off the year with pneumonia. Now, Stan and I both have sinus infections. His is clearing up, but mine is not. I just started my second round of antibiotics yesterday. I really hope this one works.

The kids are all doing well. Jeremy seems to be having fewer melt downs. He still cries very easily. I need to get him in to the psycologist for an evaluation to see if there is something we can do to help him cope better with my health problems. Jeremy is doing really well with his school work. He is reading really well and has started reading chapter books. He gets a little impatient with them, so he reads some and I read some. I only have to help him with a few words. He isn't doing as well with math. He is at grade level though. He doesn't like math, so he doesn't try. He wants me to just tell him the answers.

Rachael is having so much fun with dance. She is learning so much in VIR, her pre-apprentice dance team. She is also liking her pointe class, although she would like it better if her regular teacher would come back. She is out on maternity leave right now and Rachael is not fond of the sub. She is still learning a lot though. We are going to have a bunch of dance things to attend in May.

Andrew is still loving Cub Scouts. He is working hard on his Webelo requirements. He is used to getting through the requirements quickly. His Webelo requirements take a lot longer to pass off. He should be getting some of them done soon. Stan is his Webelo leader and he is making sure the boys do some sort of requirment every week.

This weekend has been full of ups and downs. I promised you all that I would have good news soon. Here is my good news-I am the new designer at Make it Scrappy!!!! I am so excited about this opportunity. MIS is my first digi community home. It was the first place I actually came out of lurk mode and posted. I know a lot of the members there and I know all of the designers there. That is a huge plus. I am just so excited, I just can't even tell you how excited I am. I feel like a kid at Christmas who just got the best gift ever. I am still in the process of getting all of my products in the store. I have had to redo some of my previews since they had other store logos on them and I have had to redo all of my zips. MIS does single zips per products where as my other stores had a zip limit of 25MB. I have a lot of them done, so I am just working on the last few. I hope to see you all at Make it Scrappy.

Not long after I got this wonderful news, I got some really bad news. Friday night, the owners of Scrappers Zone had a BIG FIGHT!!! It is no ones business what the fight was about even though one of the owner tried to drag us all in the fight. One of them deleted the entire store. She has left to open her own store. The other owner is working to restore Scrappers Zone. There are going to be changes in the way it looks. The previos look belonged to the owner that left, so it will have a new look.

I am really sad that this happened. Scrappers Zone was a wonderful place. I was getting to know designers from all over the world. We had designers from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, the Philippines, Russia and many other countries that I can't even remember the all. We had a section where scrappers could get help in their own language-russian, german, spanish, portugese, tagalog and more. I hope that one of the two new sites coming out of this will have those options. The were new and not a lot of people knew about them so they hadn't been used much. The potential was huge there.

I have decided that I will stay with Scrappers Zone. The fact that the other owner deleted the site in anger has caused some trust issues with me, especially after all of the problems with DigiScrapDesigners (if you are not already aware of the problems, be grateful as this means you didn't lose your hard earned money) I wish the other designers and owner the best of luck. I have no hard feelings in this. I am only sad. Some of the designers going with the other sites are designers that I had started to make friends with. We talked in the forums a lot. I hope we can all keep in touch.

Then, last night I got another piece of bad news. The prophet of our church, President Gordon B Hinckley passed away at age 97. This man was an inspiration. He was so active, despite his age. He traveled with world speaking with members everywhere. He dedicated more temples than any prophet in history. There are about 124 temples in operation now. I was reading a news article about his passing. It said he was working in his office up until 2 weeks ago. He said something in a conference address recently that he has only been in the hospital once in his life, not counting his birth (this is amazing to a person who had 3 hospitalizations in 2007 alone). Pres. Hinckley has been our prophet for almost 13 years. He served as the councelor to 3 prophets before him; Pres Howard W. Hunter, Pres. Ezra T Bensen and Pres Spencer W Kimball. I loved listening to Pres Hinckley speak. He always brought humor into all of his talks. He made them so interesting to listen to. He was an amazing speaker. He will be truely missed by me, my family and every member of the LDS church. I hope that I can always be grateful, be smart, be involved, be clean, be true, be positive, be humble, be still and be prayerful (from Pres Hinckley's address to the youth in 2001).

Back in October, I did a design contest. This is a kit that I started for the contest. I have really added to the kit and made it rather large. I finally have it in my stores. I named it after my grandmother, Alta. I love the colors for this kit. Purple is my favorite color. This kit contains 16 papers, 3 bows, 4 ribbons, 4 bead strings, 1 brad, 1 conch, 2 buttons, 1 set of photocorners, 8 flowers, 4 frames, 1 lace doily, 4 gem pins, 4 ribbon slides, 1 book plate, 3 tags, and complete upper and lower case alpha with numbers and symbols. Layout of the Week

It has been a while since I blogged. I didn't realize I had missed an entire week. It has been a busy week. My son had his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby on Saturday. He placed 3rd place. He has placed every year for the past 3 years. He was really happy with his car. This year, we made him do almost everything, except the inital cutting of the wood into a wedge shape, by himself. In previous years, we made him do a lot himself, but still helped him a lot.

Today, I ran a first aid certification clinic for the young women at church. They have to have certain certifications for girls' camp each year. I am the nurse at our girls' camp. I love being the camp nurse. It is a lot of work during the week, but I usually don't have any prep before hand. This is the first year we have done this. It went really well. All of the girls that attended got all of their first aid certification out of the way for the year. This will probably become a yearly thing now. The hard part is done though, so next year I will just have to make the assignments. Even more important than getting the certification done, the girls had a lot of fun. That is what girls' camp is suppose to be about.

I got layout of the week at Scrappers Zone. It is actually for the first week of Janaury, but we are running a little behind. I was so happy to get this recongnition. I worked really hard on this LO and I worked hard on the accomplishment this LO is about. Here is my layout.

Happy Bithday Jeremy

Yesterday was my son's birthday. He s 6 years old. He was so happy to be 6. He thinks now that he is 6, he can be a cub scout. He has to wait until the fall though. Then he will be a Tiger cub. Andrew has been in cub scouts since he was in 1st grade. Jeremy has wanted to be part of the cub scouts for so long. Turning 6 was a big milestone for him being part of scouts.

He had a really good birthday. We had a family party at grandma's house on Sunday night. My neice turns 1 on the 11th, so we celebrated together. Yesterday, I took him to walmart to spend his gift card he got from his great grandma. He bought an Imaginext Pirate ship. He loves anything related to pirates. Last night we took him to Gatti Town for dinner. Gatti town is one of those pizza places that has a pizza buffet, then has a game room and you exchange your points for overly priced toys. He had a lot of fun though. I had a hard time keeping up with him though. He runs from game to game and I can't move very fast.

Scrappers Zone has a new mega kit out. It is called Doctor Doctor. If your kids are anything like mine, you will have plenty of uses for this kit. My boys have had stitches 3 times each. Andrew has had 6 broken bones in his life and Jeremy has had 2. Rachael has been my careful one and has never had to have stitches and broke part of her foot once, but didn't require a cast. I'm sure my boys will continue in their accident prone nature and I will end up with more accident LO to do.

I know, I am a few days late. I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year. We are starting off the new year with a bang. On New Year's Eve, I took Jeremy into the doctor for fever and complaints of an ear ache. He has never had a ear infection in his life. His ear only had a little bit of fluid in it, but he did have a lot of fluid in his lungs. He has pneumonia. 2007 was the year for pneumonia at our house. Rachael started out the year with strept and pneumonia, then Andrew got pneumonia in February. I got pneumonia in September after my gall bladder surgery. Now, Jeremy ended 2007 with pneumonia. Stan was the only one that didn't get it during the year. Jeremy has been on Zithromax for 3 days now. He no longer has fever and he has a bit more energy. Unfortunately, every time he starts to play, he coughs really bad. Initally, the doctor was concerned about pertussis. Jeremy had an allergic reaction to the pertussis vaccine, so he is not immune. His cough is so bad that it reminded her of pertussis. He was going to get tested for it if his xray had been clear. Of the 2, pneumonia is preferable.

Are you one to make New Year's Resolutions? I don't really. I am a goal oriented person anyway. I make goals throughout the entire year. I don't wait until there is a new year to make a goal. This week, I did recommit to a goal I have been working on for 17 months. I have been going to weight watchers for the past 17 months. I have hoped to have lost more weight than I have by this point. I had initally hoped to be at goal by now. I didn't anticipate being diagnosed with MS. I know that has played a role in my slow loss. However, lately I have been using it as an excuse to completey blow everything. Getting this diagnosis has been a huge relief, but it has also brought me more stress. It is a life changing thing. I have found myself wondering what the future brings me. I realize that no one knows what the future brings. I need to make sure I don't let my MS become an excuse for me to be fat. My MS symptoms will be so much easier to handle if I get my weight under control. So, I am recommitting to my goal to lose weight. This week, I am focusing on eating 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day and drinking 64 ounces of water each day. Next week, I will add one more healthy habit and work up from there. I am going to try to blog about my weight watchers experience frequiently. I am hoping it will keep me on target.

How was your Christmas? We had a wonderful Christmas around here. I havent' even had a chance to make any LO of our celebration. I took close to 200 pictures though, so I will be scrapping christmas for quite a while. My kids were totally spoiled. They got most of what they asked for. Jeremy got an Optimus Prime mask with a voice morpher in it. I have a funny video of him singing Christmas songs as Optimus Prime. I will post it here if I can ever figure out how to put up video. I have only seen people put up Utube videos.

It seems that we can't manage an New Years celebration without someone being sick. This "tradition" started 3 years ago when we all had the flu over New Years. Last year, Rachael and Andrew both had strept throat and Rachael had pneumonia on top of that. On Friday, Jeremy started running a fever. He has had a cough for a month. He had a check up with his pedi on Thursday and he was totally healthy. She said his cough was probably allergies as his lungs were clear. Friday is when the fever started. Last night, he was up to 104.6. His only symptom is this cough. His lungs are still clear, so it is probably viral. He had a flu shot, so it isn't the nasty flu. He has layed on the couch and watched TV for 2 days straight. He doesn't feel like doing anything.

I have a wonderful woman on my CT. She is known on the web as Nanna Susie. She makes wonderful LO. Last month, she welcomed a new grandson into her family. His name is Conner. In honor of Conner (haha), I made this kit. She send me a picture of his nursery set and I matched it to that. I am really pleased with how it turned out. I hope you enjoy it. I have slowly had CT application trickly in. I have accepted everyone that has requested to be on my team. I have some wonderful team members so far. I have Angie , Nanna Susie, and Robin . Angie and Robin are new in the last few weeks and Nanna Susie was my first CT member. I really look forward to seeing what these amazing scrappers come up with. It is so cool as a designer to see people using your work to scrap their lives. I am still so new and it still thrills me to see it. I hope I never lose that thrill as I design longer and longer.

I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years holiday. Be safe. Don't drink and drive. We are going to be staying home, especially since I have a sick little one. I keep waiting for the rest of us to get it.

Now for some general updates. Jeremy is almost 6 now. His birthday is in 2 weeks. He is so excited about his birthday coming. We aren't having a birthday party for him this year. I have tried to explain that to him, but he doesn't get it. I only let my kids have a birthday party every other year. I started this because Rachael and Andrew's birthdays are only 2 weeks apart. It is too hard having a party for each of them every year, so Andrew gets one one year, and Rachael gets one the next year.

Jeremy is also having a hard time with my healthy being bad. He has melt downs like he did when he was 2. He doesn't want to sleep at night and he is really clingy. He cries about everything. He has had problems with his hips in the past so I had them checked out and they are doing fine. I am going to take him into the pediatrician next week to have a physical to make sure there isn't a physical cause to all of this and to talk about how to best handle his behaviour problems.

Andrew is having his own set of problems. He picks on Jeremy constantly. He has gone beyond what a normal brother will do. With Jeremy being more sensitive lately, it has been unbearable. I finally threatened Andrew that he will lose Christmas presents if he can't be nice to Jeremy. He lost one for one day this week. He had to be extra nice to Jeremy to earn it back. He did. He has been better the rest of the week. I hope it lasts, but I won't hold my breath.

Rachael is a typical teenage girl. She is fickle in love right now. She will admit it too. She has had a big crush on Andy, a guy at church for the past 6 months. They talk on the phone all the time. They can't date because Rachael isn't allowed to date until she is 16. Recently, Rachael and Andy went to a homeschooling teen leadership thing in San Antonio. She got to see a friend of hers that she hasn't seen in over a year. He happens to be a guy and he likes Rachael A LOT. Rachael just wants to be friends though. Andy saw the way Preston and Rachael were together and got really jealous. He has been really jealous before this also. Rachael was not impressed, so she told Andy is was back to being friends. Now she likes Preston again (she liked him over a year ago). They talk on the phone a lot. I am so glad we have unlimited long distance with Cingular and lots of roll over minutes. Rachael is pretty good about watching her minutes on the cell phone. She knows if she ever goes over on her minutes, she will lose her cell phone. You might as well cut off her hand as take her phone away. Last month, she used 2640 minutes. Only 90 of them were part of our minutes. All the rest of them were either mobil to mobil or night and weekend. It really helps that all of her best friends have Cingular.

My MIL is helping us finish converting our garage into a family room for our Christmas present. All of the dry wall is up and most of the mudding has been done. We are going to be texturing the wall and painting over the next week. Stan will have every day but Friday off next week so he and his brother will work on the room some more. I am going to let Rachael paint large spots on the walls. I want the walls a green color, with lighter and darker green spots and maybe some cream spots. She wants to have free reign in there, but I want her to run her designs by me first before she starts painting. She can get some really wild ideas.

Don't forget about the brag book challenge at Scrappers Zone. I think I am the only one that has made any brag book pages. I hope to see more contributions so we can exchange pages. It is so much more fun to exchange pages when there are more pages.

I have been tagged by Scrappy Cats. I have to answer all of these Christmas questions. They are prett easy. Now I have to think of who I am going to tag. I think I am going to tag Rose McDigital , Corrine and Aimee.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
wrapping paper. My kids love to rip open the paper and I love to see them rip it open. No gift bags here.

2. Real or Artificial tree?artificial –we are all allergic to most Christmas trees.

3. When do you put up the tree?the day after Thanksgiving. When I was growing up, we always put it up right after Thanksgiving dinner. When I got married, we went to the IL for dinner and never had time to put it up on Thanksgiving.

4. When do you take the tree down? On New years. This is not set in stone though

5. Do you like Eggnog?yes, I love it, but it has way too many calories. Not weight watchers friendly

6. Favorite Gift you received as a child?A doll called My Friend Mandy. I loved that doll

10. Worst Christmas gift ever received? My first Christmas with my husband he bought me a see through teddy. I hate those. I prefer to leave a little to the imagination.

Multiple Sclerosis

After a year of mysterious neurological problems, I have finally been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I am not shocked or surpised or upset. I have felt like this is what I have had for months. I am so relieved to finally have an answer. Now, I can start treatment to avoid further damage from this unpredictable disease. She is also going to put me on some medication to help with the fatigue. She wants to wait until I have been on the Avonex so she knows how I am going to tolerate it before adding a new medication. I am looking forward to the Provigil for the fatigue. It will help me so much to be able to have a little more energy to do things.

I am having an early Christmas sale at Scrappers Zone. Everything in my store will be 30% off all weekend. The sale will end Sunday night at midnight. I will be releasing a new kit later today. It is a nativity kit called "The First Christmas". I was hoping to have it finished for the beginning of this sale, but things have been busy with my kids extracurricular activities this week so I didn't have much designing time. Here are a few layouts from CT members. This first one is from Lois. She is on the Studio Style Designs creative team and not on my individual creative team. She used my kit "Snow in Texas" for this layout. I love the way it turned out. She is also from Texas, but a different area. She is from Alvin, Texas. It snows there even less than it does in Austin. She made a few other layouts that I will feature at a different time.

This layout was done by Clara. She is on my newly created CT. I love her layouts. This one is absolutely adorable. If I remember right, this is her grown son when h e was getting his first haircut.

Now for the promised freebie. It has been a long time since I put a freebie on my blog. I will try not to go so long without a freebie next time. This is the "rejects" from my latest kit, Pretty Poinsettia. I decided that they weren't poinsettia enough for this kit. They are nice Christmas papers and elements, but not poinsettia enough. Now for a quick update on Lucky. He is doing much better. We got home from my MIL yesterday and he had eaten all of the canned food we had left out for him. His temperature was down to normal. He has been eating well today and is much perkier. He still isn't moving around very much. He mostly uses his front claws to drag himself.

My poor cats

This has been a long week for my cats. On Sunday, one of my cats, Friskie, started having trouble breathing. We rushed him to the emergency vet. He was in severe respiratory distress. They put him in an oxygen tank and let him calm down. They did a chest x-ray and he had a pneumothorax. A pneumothorax is a small hole in the lung that allows air to enter the plueral space . The air in the pleural space pushes the lung and the heart up. The air had also leaked into his abdominal cavity. The vet said they could put him on a ventilator and put a chest tube in, but he only had a grim chance of survival. We decided to let him go. He was only 2 1/2 years old. It was really hard on our family to lose him. We had a funeral for him in the back yard.

Yesterday, Lucky came in limping with a big laceration to the inside of his right ankle. We cleaned the wound and dressed it but he wouldn't bear any weight on his leg. We took him to the vet. They didn't think it was broken. They numbed the area and cleaned it out really good. They sent him home with pain killers and antibiotics. I have to take his temperature twice a day and give him his medication. Today, his temperature was right at the limit the vet set, 103. He wouldn't eat anything at all. We took him back into the vet and they said his wound looked better. By that time, his temperature was 103.8. They gave him a cortisone shot and a shot of vitamin B12 to stimulate his appetite. Our new temperature limit is 104. They sent me home with a few syringes with the skinny top cut off. I have to fill the syringe with canned cat food and force feed him until he starts eating on his own. He is NOT happy with me right now. Our goal is to give him 20 syringe fulls per day until he is eating on his own. I hope he starts eating really soon. Lucky is my baby. He sits in my lap all the time and snuggles up to me. It is hard to see him like this.

We have lost 3 cats this year. Kiki died in April of old age. She was 17 years old. Prissy, our mamma cat, went missing in June. We have looked for her, put up signs and checked the animal shelter almost daily. Now we lost Friskie on Sunday. I am praying we don't add Lucky to that list. I'm sure he will be fine but he sure has me worried.

I am going to try to blog about more cheerful stuff tomorrow or Monday. I have some CT layouts I want to put up here, but I am blogging at my MIL so I don't have access to my pictures. I will have a new kit out within the next few days. It is called Pretty Poinsettia. I will have some freebies of papers that didn't make it into the kit when I release the kit. I will have 2 other Christmas kits coming also. I am not sure if they will be full kits, or just element kits. They may even be mini kits. I guess it will be a surprise.

I want to congratulate Clara, one of my CT members on her new grandson, Matthew Connor. I will be making a kit for little Matthew that will match his nursery. I will get that done once my Pretty Poinsettia kit is in the store.

Now that the business is taken care of, on to the fun stuff. What are you doing for this Thanksgiving holiday? My husbands only sister lives just north of Austin in a HUGE house. We usually go to her house for the holidays, both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The hard part of me today is staying on my weight watchers program. I don't like a lot of the really fattening stuff for Thanksgiving. I don't care for green bean cassarole or the sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows. Those high calorie/high fat dishes are easy to avoid. The hard part for me is the desserts. I LOVE pumpkin pie. Emily, my SIL, makes wonderful pies. I am going to bring a weight watchers friendly pumpkin pie. It will be crustless and only 2 points per slice (1/8th of a pie). I will also be bringing sweet potatoes roasted in fresh rosemary and olive oil and green beans steamed with dried cranberries. Usually, we bring homemade bread for dinner. We have a bread machine and a few tried and true recipes. Our favorite is parmesan and oregano bread. However, I went to make bread for a church activity and we are missing one of the beaters to our bread machine so I can't make bread. I got on the Westbend website to order the replacement part and I can't find the exact same thing. I need to call Westbend about it. The description says "black beater bar" and what I have in my machine is a white beater (no bar). I don't want to order the wrong thing.

Snow in Texas

No, you didn't miss something when you watched the news last night. This is the name of my new kit. Last January, we got 2 days of snow and ice, well, mostly ice. I finally got around to scrappin those pictures (I took about 100) and realized that I did not have one single snow kit. I always skip over the snow kits, even the freebies. I had just started designing (tells you how far behind I am in my scrapping) and decided to make my own kit for my LO. I made the specific things I wanted first, used them and then made the rest. I usually don't like to scrap with my own work. It is easier to make something for a specific page and then use it rather than make a whole kit and then use it. Sorry, I'm rambling again. This kit is now in my stores (see the link on my side bar). All of my kits include a Scrap for Hire terms of use. If you make a LO with my kits, I would love to see them.

A New Haircut and Scrap for hire friendly

That is the name of my new kit. It was a kit I made at the request of someone looking for a kit to scrap her babies first haircut. This doesn't have to be limited to "babies first haircut" though. I just recently got my hair cut and I think I will do a LO with this kit to show off my new "do". I just have to find the time to do it now. You can find this kit at both of my stores, Scrappers Zone and Studio Style Designs.

My second announcement is that I have now made all of my kits Scrap for Hire friendly. All of my kits come with a specific scrap for hire terms of use in a PDF file. I also will not require that you look for an updated TOU when you use my kits. Even if I change my TOU, the TOU that came with your kit is the one you will need to follow. I don't think it is right that a S4H scrapper should have to hunt down updated TOU before they use a kit. That has got to take up a lot of time and I know that time is precious to all of us.

My first CT call

I am having my first CT call. I am pretty easy going and I want this to be fun. I hope that I get get a great team together and we can be like a family. My requirements are easy-2 LO per kit and 1 kit per month. LO should be posted in at least 3 galleries-DST and 2 others of your choice. I am designing at Studio Style Designs and Scrappers Zone. This is my kit "I Miss Summer". It is going to be on sale the entire month of November. It will be 25% off in both of my stores. It is going to be the kit used for the brag book challenge at both Studio Style Designs and Scrappers Zone. I would love to see some of you head over to one of those forums to participate in this challenge. In the challenge, create 1-2 brag book pages (4x6 inches) and at the end of the month, you get all the other brag book pages. This is a great way to get a full brag book for a Christmas present with the effort of only 1-2 pages. With this kit, you could do a whole book of vacation pictures.

Now that I have done my advertising, here are my weekend plans. We are going camping. This is a cub scout family campout. We love camping and this is going to be a prefect weekend for it. The lows at night have been in the high 50's and the highs have been in the mid 70's. I love this weather. I wish it could be like this all year round. I love this weather.

I was hoping to have a halloween gift for everyone, but I didn't get a chance. Sorry. I will tell you that you can get an unreleased kit on Saturday at Scrappers Zone for free. We are going to be having hourly happy hour freebies all throughout the day. You will never know what kit is going to be free and you are going to have to look for it. Here is a preview of the kit that I will have for free on Saturday. Head to Scrappers Zone on Saturday if you want this kit for free. It will go into the store after than, although it will be a bigger kit in the store. For those of you that get the kit for free and want the additional papers and elements, I will be making an add-on of all the new stuff I add to the kit. Here is a LO that was done with this kit. I actually made this kit in response to a search someone was doing for a kit to scrap her daughters first haircut. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

I have received some wonderful blessings in the past few weeks that I want to tell everyone about. These blessings confirm to me that I am suppose to be doing this (becoming a designer that is). I posted about getting CS3. I was also gifted a Digiscrapdesigners subscription from my MIL. Last week, I posted at DST looking for some inexpensive or free custome shapes for photoshop. I had several people tell me I should get a subscription to ActionFx. I posted back that I could not afford that because of my health issues and not being able to work and paying a lot of money out in medical bills. I wasn't looking for a hand out, but just explaining why I couldn't get the subscription. I got a private message from a designer gifting me some of her png shapes. There were LOTS of them. I am so grateful for her generosity. This weekend, I got 2 gift subscriptions to Action Fx. They are both 2 month subscriptions. I was blown away and overwhelmed by these acts of generosity. I emailed Al, the owner of Action Fx and explained to him that I had 2 subscriptions going at the same time. I requested that they be active one after another so I had 4 months. He emailed me back and said that he gave me a one year subscrption since the price was close to t he one year subscription. I am just so filled with gratitude for all those that have been so generous to me. I am also grateful to my Father in Heaven for sending these people into my life.

We are having a big sale at Studio Style Design. This sale will take place the 30th of every month. Select things will be 30% off. Today, my entire store is 30% off. This will not be the case every month. Some months, I will only put select things on sale.

Things have been crazy busy around my house for the past week. Now that I am finally well, we took Andrew out for his birthday dinner last night. His birthday was September 29th. We took him to Gatti Town. We take him there every year for his birthday. His favorite food is pizza, and he loves to play video games, so Gatti Town is perfect for him. The hardest part was that the doctor wants him to lose a little bit of weight. He is the only one of my kids that isnt' super skinny. He needs to lose 13 pounds. He had to limit himself on the amount of pizza and eat a bunch of vegetables. The doctor said he can't have soda at all. I allowed him to have 1 soda last night since it was his birthday celebration. We don't drink a lot of soda anyway.

Today, we are painting pumpkins. We bought a few pumpkins at Sweet Berry Farms that we wanted to paint. They are small pumpkins, a little bigger than a softball. Tomorrow, we are going to carve our other 2 pumpkins. We have found in previous years that they start to mold in about 24 hours, so we usually carve them on Halloween day, or sometimes the day before.

Even though it is Friday, it really isn't any different from any other day of the week. We have no big plans for the weekend. My husband is going to work for a few hours on Saturday. We will probably watch the UT football game, or at least part of it. Andrew is going to a friends house over the weekend. The boys have their yearly program for primary at church on Sunday. We are having the missionaries for dinner on Sunday. There is our entire weekend in a nutshell.

I have to finish up the boys Halloween costumes this weekend too. Jeremy is going to be Harry Potter. We found a great costume, but it is too big for him to I have to hem it up. Andrew is som sort of Pokemon. I have to sew some green balls to the back of the costume and sew a red sash.

A Great Weekend

This weekend, we did a family trip to Sweet Berry Farms. It is about an hour outside of Austin. They have a pumpkin patch this time of year. In March, you can go out there for strawberry picking and you can pick blackberries in May/June. The kids loved it. We did a hayride, the kids and the husbands did a giant maze that was cut into a corn field. We made our own scarecrow. I need to go get a pole today to put it up in the front yard. They had some great pumpkins out there. They are way better than at the grocery store. The kids bought small pumpkins and they are going to paint them today during school time. We did this outing as a celebration of my daughter turning 15. Her 2 best friends came out with us and her cousins and her aunt. She is really close with Aashlie who is 13 (her cousin). My best friend met us out there and they all did the maze together. I didnt' do the maze though. I have some mobility problems and I wasnt' sure what it was going to be like in the maze. I got lots of great pictures while we were there. I took 118 pictures in 5 hours. Niether my best friend or my SIL brought a camera, so I was the group photographer. It was so nice to have a family outing like that. It has been a long time since we have had a day like that.

Here are some LO I did yesterday of our trip. These first ones are done with Kim Cameron's kit Pumpkin Juice. It is a perfect kit for those pumpkin pictures. It is so full of elements that you can use it on a lot of LO.

Here is a LO I did with my own Halloween kit. It is called Going Batty. My kids think some of the elements look like the bat symbol from Batman . You can get the kit at my stores: Studio Style Designs and Scrappers Zone.

I have decided I don't really like to scrap with my own designs. After I finish the kit, I am kind of tired of seeing it and I don't want to look at it again. Maybe if I was doing a LO 6 months after I made the kit it would be better. I just finished the kit last week though.

Dropping out

I decided last night to drop out of the contest. I was getting so stress out by it. I was hating everything I was designing for it, I wasn't sleeping and I was getting grumpy with my family. We got the next theme and I almost cried when I saw it. I thought and thought about what I was going to do with the theme and finally came up with a subject that I liked. Through a conversation that took place on the private contestants forum, it came out that my subject would not be accepted for the theme. I couldnt' bare the thought of having to do a kit with a theme I didnt' like. It was hard enough last week doing a color palatte I didn't like. I got into designing because I love doing it. I was not loving it over the past week and I was really questioning my decision to become a designer. I feel such a huge relief now that I have dropped out. It was a hard decision for me to make. I am not a quitter and I usually finish what I start. I'm glad I make the decision to drop out though. I am trying to explain all this with out giving away the contest theme, so I hope it all made sense.

I did decide that I was going to continue making the kit that I was going to use for the contest. I love the subject I chose. I will post a preview of it when I am done, as well as a link to where you can buy it.

My daughter Rachael turns 15 today. Time sure flies. She is excited to be learning to drive this year. I'm not, but that's ok. She is a joy to have in my life and I can't imagine life without her in it.

Round 2 uncovered

Here is my round 2 kit for the design contest at Just for the Scrap of It. Our theme was little boys age 3-7. My son is 5, so perfect. He loves Legos, so I chose that as my theme for this kit. My daughter initially suggested I do cars. Jeremy loves the movie Cars, and he loves Hotwheel cars. I am so glad I didn't do cars. A lot of the women did a car type theme. The site owners has asked that we link everyone to our gallery on JFTSOI rather than straight to the 4shared link. Later in the week, after the voting is done, I will put up the 4shared link. I would love everyone that likes this kit to register at the site so you can vote for me on Tuesday and Wednesday. Leave me some love it you like the kit.
